Part 1: Why Rent a Volkswagen T2 Bus?

   A. Getting Married in a Volkswagen T2 Bus

A VW T2 as a wedding car is not transportation — it is a statement.

There is a reason why the Volkswagen bus has been one of the most popular wedding cars in the Netherlands for decades. Those round shapes, the pastel colors, the chrome details — photographers love it. And arriving at the town hall in a T2? Your guests will not forget it.

Why the VW T2 works as a wedding car:

  • Space for the whole family. Getting married with children? Our T2s seat 6 to 8 people. No separate car for the kids needed.
  • Photogenic from every angle. The T2 is a ready-made backdrop for your wedding photos.
  • Drive it yourself or with a chauffeur. Want to sit behind the large steering wheel yourself? Or prefer to relax while we drive? Both are possible.

   B. An Outing with Grandma (or Grandpa) and Friends

This is where the idea for our T2 fleet began: giving elderly people an unforgettable day.

Why renting a VW bus for seniors is perfect:

  • Easy to get in. The large sliding door and the height of the bus make getting in and out simple.
  • Together on the road. No separate cars, everyone sits together. Conversations happen naturally.
  • Bringing back memories. Older generations recognize the bus from their youth. “My uncle had one just like that!” is something we regularly hear.
  • Comfortable pace. A T2 invites relaxed driving. Enjoy the landscape, stop wherever you want.

   Ideas for a senior outing:

  • Take grandma and her three friends on our classic car route along the Groninger Borgen
  • Organize a surprise drive for grandpa’s 80th birthday
  • Rent the bus for a reunion of former colleagues
  • Celebrate Mother’s Day or Father’s Day with a tour through the province
  • Did you know that we organize free weekly rides for single elderly people and people with cancer? Get in touch if you would like to nominate someone.

   C. Marketing, Promotion and Business Campaigns

Our dark green T2A already proved it: a Volkswagen Bus attracts attention. The Siem de Safaribus campaign reached millions of children and parents.

Why companies rent a VW bus:

  • Recruitment campaigns. A T2 at a career fair or in a recruitment video stands out among standard roll-up banners.
  • Product launches. The bus as a backdrop or mobile showroom.
  • Photoshoots and video productions. The T2 is a ready-made film set.
  •   Festivals and events. As an eye-catcher, photo booth location, or VIP transport
  • Brand activations. The bus can be (partly) branded for your campaign.

Recent example: A marketing agency approached us for a recruitment campaign. The T2 is used to attract talent in a market where everyone is fighting for attention. With a hippie bus, you stand out.

   D. Company Outing or Teambuilding

Forget the next escape room. A company outing in a Volkswagen T2 is a shared experience your team will talk about for months.

Why companies rent a VW bus for teambuilding:

  • Together on the road = talking together. Different conversations happen in a bus than in the office. Also great for colleagues who join for the route and the stops.
  • Active and relaxed. Drive it yourself (take turns!) or simply enjoy the view.
  • Flexible program. Combine the drive with lunch at a farm, a brewery visit, or a walk.
  • Scalable. With these three buses and our other cars, we can accommodate groups of up to 50 people.

   E. On the Road with the Family

The Volkswagen T2 is the ultimate family vehicle for a day out. No rush, no screens, just being on the road together.

Why families rent a VW bus:

  • The adventure starts when you step in. For children, the T2 itself is already an attraction.
  • Space for everyone. Up to 8 people, including grandma and grandpa if you like
  • Our routes are family-proof. We have routes with stops at petting farms, playgrounds, ice cream parlors and picnic fields.
  •  Flexible. Stop wherever you want, as long as you want. The bus is rented per day, not per kilometer.

       Family routes we recommend:

  • The Groninger Grain Republic — drive past monasteries, manor houses and the smallest tidal harbor
  • Het Hogeland — through the most beautiful villages with terraces along the way
  •  The Heritage Route — Drive through the Onlanden to Veenhuizen, visit Maallust and the Prison Museum, return via Appelscha and beautiful villages such as Norg.

Part 2: The Stories Behind Our T2 Buses

The Mint Green T2B — From Belgium to the First Electric VW Bus in the Northern Netherlands

 The story began with loneliness.
In the spring of 2025, when Tonny's Classic Drive was still a young company, routes had to be created for the first group outings. Owner Anton Daleman realized that while testing routes he might as well take elderly people living alone along. Free of charge. For the companionship, but also because older people often have stories about the villages the route passes through.

What started as a practical idea grew into something much bigger. Every Tuesday afternoon, for ten weeks, Anton drove elderly people and cancer patients through the Groningen countryside. People opened up in the bus. Stories were shared, memories revisited, and friendships formed. RTV Noord made a report about it. The Dagblad van het Noorden wrote about it. The NOS published the story online. On the first day of the national Week Against Loneliness in September 2025, everything came together. With a group of volunteer drivers and several classic cars, twenty elderly people living alone and people with cancer were taken on a tour through Het Hogeland.

The future: driving electric in a hippie bus. This bus is currently being converted to fully electric by Schilder Electric — the same company that previously built the electric T2 campers for startup “evan.” From June 1, 2026, you will be able to tour through Groningen whisper-quiet and emission-free.

Note: After the conversion, it will be the first electric Volkswagen T2 rental bus in the Northern Netherlands.

The Dark Green T2A “Safaribus” — From Hollywood Campaign to Groningen City Hall

Do you know Siem de Safaribus? That orange tiger bus from VTech that you see in every toy store? Our dark green T2A was the real model on which the national advertising campaign was based.  The bus was imported from California to be fully restored for the campaign. Afterward, it was sold and ended up on Terschelling, where it drove around for years — hence the island stickers that are still visible on the back.
Together with his friend Oscar, Anton went to see the bus at Beterrijden.nl in Eindhoven. The connection was immediate. The state of restoration was excellent: shiny dark green on the outside with a white roof, warm cognac-colored leather on the inside.

The first rental was special. A wedding, February 2025. A yellow weather warning had been issued due to black ice. The rental had actually been canceled. But on the day itself, the weather improved. Anton put on his chauffeur suit, picked up the bride, groom and their four children, and drove them to the Groningen City Hall. Before the ice could set in, the bus was safely back in the garage.

It was a special day — exactly the kind of moment this bus was made for.

The Mint Green T2B from Estonia — A Story of Scarcity to Abundance

This bus comes from Estonia, and its story begins with a ten-year-old boy who experienced the fall of the Soviet Union.

Erki Nolvak (44) had owned this T2 since his youth. He once sold it, but in 2014 the new owner contacted him: would Erki like to buy the bus back? By then it was a restoration project. Erki, then owner of a classic car restoration company, said “yes.” What followed was a complete transformation. The bus was stripped down, sandblasted and repainted.

   But Erki went beyond original:

  • Front: luxury seats from the Toyota Previa
  • Rear: captain’s chair and leather bench from the later T3
  • Engine: more powerful 1.8-liter engine
  • Insulation: for comfort and quiet

When the restoration was finished, Erki got married in it. To his current wife. When picking up the bus, Erki spoke about his childhood in Soviet Estonia. As a ten-year-old, he experienced liberation. Before that, there was barely any stock in the supermarket. Often there were only one or two products in the refrigerator. “Young people today cannot imagine what that was like,” he said, “with today’s prosperity.” The bus is now in Groningen, approved by the RDW, and has already been rented several times this year as a wedding car. The combination of authentic appearance and modern comfort makes it ideal for couples getting married — especially if children are involved.
